  • Restomod and EV cars boost BMH to record production

News Restomod and EV cars boost BMH to record production Wednesday, 4 January 2023 at 15:00:00 UTC By Al Suttie BMH has record year in 2022 British Motor Heritage has reported its busiest ever year in 2022, with production boosted by demand from electric vehicle convertors and restomod builders. In total, BMH produced 78 bodyshells, with 45 Mini shells of all types and 32 MGB Roadster and GT shells. It was also the first year that BMH produced an MG Midget shell since 2019. BMH Managing Director Graham Payne said: ‘Last year was certainly a very busy one, that’s more than justified our ongoing investment in the refurbishment of the original BMC/Leyland tooling, the invaluable hardware which makes us the only company able to produce replacement bodyshells to the exact specification of the originals. ‘Where our products do differ from the originals, however, is in the quality of the steel and the OE specification primer in which all our parts are finished, thus ensuring far better longevity. As things currently stand, it looks as though this year could be at least as busy as 2022 was.’ http://www.bmh-ltd.com

  • FIVA celebrates increase in younger enthusiasts

News FIVA celebrates increase in younger enthusiasts Wednesday, 23 November 2022 at 17:00:00 UTC By Al Suttie Rising numbers of young in classic sector FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) has noted an increase in the number of young people coming into the classic car sector at its Annual General Assembly, which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Addressing the 200 participants at the meeting, newly re-elected FIVA President Tiddo Bresters said: ‘At times, attracting younger enthusiasts has seemed a hard hill to climb. However, two factors have helped kick-start an extremely welcome change. First, by embracing social media, often the chosen method of organising events and get-togethers for younger people, we’ve been able to welcome a significant lowering of the average age of enthusiasts participating in our events. ‘Secondly, we are delighted to see the so-called ‘emerging countries’ of the international historic vehicle community bringing a whole swathe of younger people, often women, to the fold. This certainly applies to the two new countries on the FIVA map, Albania and Georgia.’ Bresters added: ‘I believe the historic vehicle movement has more reason for optimism than at any time in the recent past.’ http://www.fiva.org
