Ford Escort is most searched for classic
The Ford Escort has been named as the most popular car for online searches in 2021 by Car & Classic. A top 10 of searches of cars for sale by the online classifieds and auction website also showed a shift towards more affordable classics from the 1980s.
The Escort displaced the Porsche 911 as the most popular search on the website, pushing the 911 into second spot. In third place, the Triumph Stag has seen searches more than double, while the BMW E30 3 Series is in fourth place with searches up by 20% on 2020’s figures. The Ford Mustang took fifth place.
Other cars in the top 10, in order of search numbers, are the Jaguar E-type, Ford Capri, Volkswagen Beetle, MGB GT, and MGB roadster.
Showing the rising demand for Japanese sports cars, the Toyota Supra and MR2, Mazda RX-7, and Datsun 240Z all appeared in the top 20 searches of 2021. The Supra’s rise showed a surge from the edge of the Top 50 to nearly edging out the MGB.
