The Meyers Manx is being relaunched in 2023 with electric power replacing the original’s Volkswagen Beetle engine.

Called the Meyers Manx 2.0, the reinvented version of Bruce Meyers’ dune buggy has a 40kWh battery that is claimed will give a range of around 300 miles.

This new Manx is the work of designer Freeman Thomas and company owner Philip Sarofim, who has taken over the Meyers Manx name.

The car is due to be unveiled at Monterey Car Week in the US. It will feature two electric motors driving the rear wheels.

The company said in a statement: ‘The Meyers Manx Beta program will deliver the first 50 cars to select customers in 2023. These vehicles will provide a unique engagement with early adopters by providing feedback to the development team as they refine the production version.’
